Glampsite Overview

Our site is set in a small orchard near the village of Kilmory where we have two Scottish made larch wood frame yurts. Each yurt comes fully equipped with all you will need for your holiday including bedding, towels, crockery and cooking utensils. Each yurt can sleep up to six people and is ideal for a romantic break for a couple or as a base for an adventurous family holiday.

Glamping Accommodation and Services

We have two 20ft diameter Scottish made Yurts that can sleep between 2 and 6 people and are available for hire all year round.

They each have the following features;

Luxury double bed plus two double futons for other guests.
Fully equipped with all you will need (towels, bedding and crockery) - just bring your clothes!
Wood burning stove/cooker (including an oven) for heat and cooking.
Insulated for year round comfort.
Private bathroom with shower (including a composting toilet).
Outdoor firepit with cooking utensils and picnic bench.
Solar powered lighting.
Shared pot washing and laundry facilities (washing machine).
A romantic atmosphere!

Yurts (or 'Gers' as they are somtimes called) are a traditional dwelling from Mongolia that have been used for many centuries. We first stayed in a Yurt eight years ago and have loved them ever since. They provide a fabulous place to stay with an atmosphere that is unique and tranquil.

About us, glamping holidays since 2015

We brought our family to the Isle of Arran in Easter 2013 - just as the biggest snow storms in a generation hit the island leaving us without power for a week! Luckily we were moving into a semi-derelict house. Having got the renovations to the former manse (rectory) well under way we have turned our attention to the adjoining paddocks and the creation of the Runach Arainn glamping site.

In the Area

Arran is a spectacular island with amazing views wherever you are, from high in the Goat Fell range in the North to Torrylinn beach down in the South. The island is only 20 miles long and 10 miles wide so you are never far from any of the attractions. For natural history lovers Arran boasts all five of the Scottish Big Five (http://www.scotlandsbig5.co.uk) – Golden Eagle, Red Squirrel, Red Deer, Seal and Otter. If its history you want then we have neolithic remains including the atmospheric standing stones at Machrie Moor, or Brodick Castle and gardens – now laid out as a Victorian hunting lodge. And if the kids get bored there is always the Arran Family Fun Park at Balmichael or an afternoon out on the Waverley (the last ocean going paddle steamer in the world, which visits Arran every week during the Summer season).
